Xform Computing, a company focusing in cloud-computing, has just announced that it has added the Google Chrome browser, as well as support for Java to their AlwaysOnPC mobile app for Android, iPad and iPhone.
Although the Chrome and Java features are currently in beta testing with existing customers, they will both be generally available by April 10.
Once the mobile app is available, users will be able to run Chrome and Java on iPad, iPhone or Android with the fully synchronized bookmarks, tabs and themes they are using on their computers.
In addition, almost any application or game that is included within the
Chrome Web Store will be fully compatible and able to run on Android, iPad and iPhone.
According to Xform Computing, AlwaysOnPC also runs Firefox with Flash on iPad and iPhone. However, there is no support for audio and full motion video, but the developer stated that the features will be available in a future release.
Chrome and Java are now among the 40 apps fully compatible with Xform Computing’s cloud computing-based system, which is accessible from mobile devices using the AlwaysOnPC app.
The hosted system includes a customizable desktop and a wide range of apps, such as mobile Open office suite for editing Word, Excel and
Powerpoint, image editing and drawing software, Dropbox, and others.
AlwaysOnPC offers users the possibility to access features that are usually available on their computers, via their mobile phones or tablets:
- Copy and paste text or graphics between apps like Office, browser, email and photos;
- Add Firefox add-ons or toolbars;
- Click to open email attachments directly into the office or imaging apps;
- Multi-task;
- Play Flash games on iPad or iPhone;
- Image editing and graphic drawing programs.
The application is compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch OS 3.2 or later, as well as Android OS 2.1. While using AlwaysOnPC, an active 3G or WiFi connection is required.
AlwaysOnPC is available for purchase in the iTunes AppStore as two separate applications, one for iPad and one for iPhone/iPod-touch and can be purchased for $24.99. Android users can download the application from Android Marketplace for the same price.
