Google Chrome will be advertised on TV

After the release of Chrome, Google tried its best to make the browser as popular as possible. A part of this effort has materialized into a video designed to show the world the benefits of using Chrome, and mostly the UI ease of use from the Japan team. Surprisingly the release of the video on the web generated a wave of positive feedback, which led to Google's initiative of making some videos especially dedicated to Chrome. The result of that enterprise can now be seen on YouTube under the name Google Shorts.

Also, in order to make Japan's team video known to the greater audience the Google TV Ads has thought of a solution, and the result is a campaign that is hoped to bring Google Chrome under the spotlight and make it popular to the public. The Google Chrome team stated in the official press release: "Using some of the results from our placement-targeted ads on the Google Content Network, we designed a Google TV Ads campaign which we hope will raise awareness of our browser, and also help us better understand how television can supplement our other online media campaigns."

The Google TV Ads team will start to run this ad on various television networks marking a turn in Google’s advertising strategy given the fact that this company usually uses web-based advertising and integration with other products in order to expose its products to the public. The whole Google team is very curious about how this will turn out and of course the effect that this campaign will have on Chrome's popularity worldwide.

Google Chrome is an open-source browser based on Webkit and powered by Google Gears and has been released on September 4, 2008. Since then it has struggled to gain market share and increase its popularity with the public. According to the latest studies, Microsoft's Internet Explorer still rules the browser market, with Mozilla's Firefox in the second place, heating things up and challenging IE. Chrome only comes in fourth, after Apple's Safari.

So, keep an eye on your TV and you just might see the new Google Chrome ad.
