It appears that there are some issues related to Google Chrome and the new Windows Azure Management Portal which can prevent customers from publishing a service package.

Microsoft has confirmed the problem, and indicated that an incompatibility with the Chrome browser is at fault.

According to the Redmond company, customers have reported that the deployment process gets stuck at '95% Uploaded,' failing to complete. The error can also have Chrome crashing altogether.

“We have seen a problem with new Azure portal and Chrome browser. The problem is that if you login Azure Portal in Chrome Browser and publish an azure service package, the upload process will always stuck at 95% and just stuck there forever. If you try to resize the windows the browser might crash as well,” revealed Microsoft’s Avkash Chauhan.

The software giant is well aware of the issue, and is hard at work to resolve it. However, for the time being, customers are advised to use Internet Explorer instead of Chrome in order for the upload to complete without any glitches.

“This is a known issue with Azure portal and Azure Portal team is working hard to fix this problem. The current workaround is to use IE to solve this problem,” Chauhan explained.

Microsoft upgraded the Windows Azure Management Portal at the end of November 2010, with the first reports of problems coming in early December.

The new Windows Azure Management Portal accompanied the release of version 1.3 of the Windows Azure SDK as well as the testing availability milestone for Windows Azure Virtual Machine Role and Windows Azure Connect (formerly Project Sydney).

“The Windows Azure Platform is an internet-scale cloud computing services platform hosted in Microsoft data centers.

“The Windows Azure platform, which provides a range of functionality to build applications that span from consumer web to enterprise scenarios, includes a cloud services operating system and a set of developer services.

“Windows Azure, SQL Azure, and Windows Azure AppFabric are the key components of the platform,” Microsoft stated.
