Although the development team behind Google Chrome has signaled that the Dev channel push has been temporarily halted for crash-related matters, the search giant has been able to roll out one last updated developer version for Windows, Linux and Mac. The Dev channel has been updated to 6.0.437.1 for Windows and Linux, and to version 6.0.437.2 on the Mac front, according to Anthony Laforge, a member of the Google Chrome development team.

Describing the changes occurring on all supported platforms, Laforge lists the following: Detach Reload from omnibox, combine with Stop, and eliminate Go.; implemented initial version of extension syncing; the onChanged event is now working in the extensions experimental cookies API. No additional tweaks have been made on the Windows side. Mac and Linux users, however, are looking at a few more improvements in this release.

Faster scrolling has been enabled on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), according to the changelog, while a bug where menu items would be disabled if no windows were open has been fixed, these being the two additional tweaks included in the Mac build of the newest Chrome (Dev). For users of Linux machines, Laforge writes, “Undo experiment where we used the tab theme image as the frame in popup windows. We now always use the default blue frame, matching Windows instead of matching Mac; side tabs for content settings window; fix restore button doing nothing in certain circumstances.”

One known issue is documented by Google for this release, affecting all supported platforms as follows:

"Some images for the main toolbar are wrong: - the Stop button is incorrectly squared off on Windows and Linux; - the omnibox edges are wrong on Mac."

As usual, Chrome fans can find more details about additional changes in the svn log of all revisions. Softpedia readers can download the latest version of Chrome for Mac using the link below.
