Google released a new Dev for its web browser and incremented its version to 17.0.938.0. The latest build is available on all supported platforms and does not bring to the table too many notable modifications.

However, one important change is the updated JavaScript engine, which features a new and improved ‘garbage collector.’ Translated into plain terms, the garbage collector is the part of V8 designed to reclaim memory used by items that are no longer required.

The current release comes with a changed command line switch control profiling, from ‘--enable-tracking’ to ‘--enable-profiling.’

Progress in this version is marked by bug fixing. One issue solved is the infobar prompting about a ‘missing plug-in” without performing the actual install of the component. Clicking on "Install plug-in" button would lead to no action.
