An infographic from New Relic does a great job at showing the state of the browser wars, including which one is more popular on which platform, and how each of them fares in speed tests.

Chrome 19 appears to be the fastest way to surf the web with a third-party browser on the Mac, but Safari is the most popular choice among Mac users with 61% market share, leaving Chrome at 21% and Firefox with just 18%.

Of course, if you ask Opera (which doesn’t even seem to exist on desktops anymore) “just” 18% would be enough reason to break out the champagne.

And, despite Google releasing multiple new versions of Chrome in the interim, Chrome 19 remains faster than its younger siblings, Chrome 20, 21, 22, and 23 (released today).

New Relic also confirms that Apple’s Safari takes the lion share of mobile browsing with 87% of web activity coming from iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch players.
