Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD cop and alleged killer, who had been on the run for days, died yesterday after police cornered him in a cabin in Big Bear. No less than 3 rewards were offered for information leading up to his capture but, according to a new report, chances are no one will get paid.

Dorner went on a killing spree earlier this month, shooting and killing 3 people, one being a police officer. In the shootout that led to his death, he shot two more cops and one died in the hospital from the injuries.

TMZ notes that several people were instrumental in finding him after he’d been on the run from the authorities for days, leading to a nationwide manhunt.

However, it could be that none of these people will ever see a dime because of what could amount to a technicality.

“The Mayor of LA announced a $1 million [€745,489] reward – funded by private groups – for information leading to the ‘capture and conviction’ of Dorner. Big problem – technically speaking, Dorner must be both captured AND convicted to trigger the reward,” the celebrity publication reports.

A similar loophole is also included in the text for the other two rewards offered in the Dorner case.

“The LA City Council offered a $100,000 [€74,548] reward for information leading to ‘the identification, apprehension, and conviction’ of Dorner. Again... no conviction,” the same media outlet reports.

“The LA County Board of Supervisors offered a $100,000 [€74,548] reward for information ‘leading to the capture of Christopher Dorner.’ One source at the Board of Supervisors tells TMZ, ‘Dorner was cornered but not captured’,” TMZ further says.

As we also informed you yesterday, Dorner was cornered in the cabin and is presumed dead. The cabin was engulfed by flames from a powerful explosion but, before that, a single gunshot was heart, which has led authorities to believe he might have shot himself.
