Angela van Boxtel's home-made reindeer is pretty impressive, but I for one have to admit that I like the idea of turning old plastic bags into a Christmas tree more than the idea of using such groceries-carriers to build a mockup of one herbivore or the other.

The Christmas tree pictured above is the brainchild of artistic group Luzinterruptus. According to TrendHunter, its body and the garlands adorning it are made from 3,000 and 1,000 plastic bags, respectively.

Interestingly enough, the folks who worked on this project did not go looking for plastic bags in trash bins. On the contrary, they asked individuals who care for the environment to trade in whatever plastic bags they had lying around the house for cloth ones.

Given the fact that they ended up collected some 4,000 plastic bags, there is little denying that their initiative really did spark people's interest.

To make things more festive, Luzinterruptus' Christmas tree was also fitted with some really pretty lights. Once completed, it was installed in Durham, England.
