As long as there are people using Yahoo! IM, there will be sounds like "BUZZ!!!" heard allover the place, at work, at home and even on the Tube, where I found that somebody had that as an alert for receiving text messages. And apart from the now classic sound that I mentioned, lines like "So… do you like fat guys with no money?" will also be present in urban talk. I don't know why I
mentioned that particular one, perhaps because it's one of my favorites… for no reason whatsoever, actually, it was a mistake.
At any rate, at least I can chill when thinking that the new audibles introduced these days will, however, not catch on big time apart from the Holiday season. I'm certain that nobody will start singing the "12 days of Christmas" in mid-July or have as an alert the BUZZ!!! sound from the Snowflakes IMV. That's a relief, and if you're annoyed at the ever growing rate at which the young adopt these phrases as "cool" and rarely step out of their boundaries when talking, you can subscribe to my point of view.
The new audibles have been included in the "Holiday" category, and they include funny greetings from the gingerbread man, mushy mistletoe and even a rapidly disappearing snowflake. They are only usable with the 8.1 and 9.0 Beta versions of the client for Windows and all you need to do, in order to reach them, is click the Audibles icon to access the menu and, then, click on "More Audibles" and look for "Holiday" or "12 Days" under the Winter Holidays category.
My Yahoo! IM savvy friends will be sure to start using these right away and if your social life is as Internet-oriented as mine is, you'd do best to not fall behind and get used to them. As Canada's Mobile said, "Tomorrow starts Today," so this must be some sort of a preview of what Christmas is going to be like. Enjoy! It's not like you have an alternative…
