Christina Wants to Act. Wanna Rethink That?

Pop babe Christina Aguilera is looking for ways to diversify her life, and I'm not talking about stripping off her clothes and cooking naked on Sundays. After conquering the world of music (and that of fashion, some might say), the once Dirrty singer says that she is now considering breaking through to the other side: Hollywood.

Unlike any other singers that tried their hands at acting (and most of them notoriously failed), Christina does not say that she wants to do movies because she knows she would be a good actress. Her reason for the sudden career change (yet, she will not give up her musical interests) is that she wants to find a new challenge. Neither is the change too sudden: the one who has been referred to as Christina The Voice says she has taken her time to think this through – about four years.

'I've been reading scripts for a number of years now. I really am interested in acting as its own art form. While I'm on tour for "Back To Basics" I will be reading scripts. I'm waiting for the right thing to come along. It's important it's the right role.', she is quoted as saying by contactmusic. She added that, if she were to star in a movie, that would definitely not happen before she wrapped up her tour.

Meanwhile, she will focus on her music. Her second video, for the next single from the 'Back to Basics' album 'Candy Man' is due to be released shortly. Just like it happened with 'Hurt' (which was co-directed by the singer), the video for 'Candy Man' too features some work from her behind the camera. Also, it features the blonde star in three different instances: blonde, brunette and redhead. 'There were a lot of servicemen involved, it is like a throwback to World War II era America. I'm jitterbugging too. It was so fun.', the diva said about shooting the video.

If Aguilera really wants to go into acting, maybe she should consider applying for the part of a mafia victim/lover from the days of yore... or Marilyn Monroe... Or maybe she should just stick to singing...
