Christina Ricci's Furry Apology

The actress pledges never to wear fur again

Christina Ricci can be nice and cute, or sexy and sensual. The only thing that, until now, she couldn't be was a fur-for-coats hater. On the contrary, the young actress was so much in love with having coats made of slaughtered animals that she even posed in one, naked underneath, for the cover of 'W' Magazine.

Without actually having something personal against her as a human being or as an actress, several of the fansites dedicated to her closed down, 'due to fur usage'. The most illustrative example in this sense was the one with the longest Ricci-related experience (it ran for almost eight years), owned by a guy named simply 'Dodger'.

After the magazine hit newsstands, a message was posted on said site, announcing its foreclosure. 'I recently found out Christina doesn't appear to have a problem wearing fur. Well, I do. I also have a problem with people who wear fur. Conclusion: I have a problem with Christina. And now that problem is solved, because I don't have a website about her anymore, so I no longer have anything to do with her.' Simple and efficient.

The move to close down the site also came from the fact that the 'Monster' star made it into the first top three positions of PETA's worst dressed list for 2006. The leading lady was Nicole Richie for her total disregard of the organization's urges.

Unlike the petite socialite, Christina thought the matter through and decided that losing her fans is more important than her passion for fur coats. So she sent PETA a message in which she pledged her aversion to such fashion items from now on.

'After being named on the PETA worst dressed list for wearing fur on the cover of W magazine, I have been deluged with angry and disappointed fans. I never meant to hurt nor anger anyone with my insensitivity. For what it is worth I have received the message loud and clear and will not be wearing fur in the future. I apologize for my offensive actions.', Christina wrote.

In return, the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals will send her a Christmas present, consisting of a basket of 'cruelty-free goodies to thank her for her compassionate decision'.
