Let the “Married with Children” jokes begin. Christina Applegate, who first became a hit with the public for her part on the TV series as the airheaded and hot Kelly, is expecting her first child. Applegate is engaged to musician Martyn Lenoble, whom she’s been dating for almost 3 years and to whom she often refers as her best friend. Both are thrilled with the happy news, People magazine says.

Before meeting Martyn, Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy. Shortly after the operation, she and Martyn met – and things evolved from being just friends to becoming lovers and, earlier this year, engaged to be married. A wedding date has not yet been set but, speculation around the blogosphere has it, one should be announced shortly, perhaps even the baby is born.

“Christina Applegate could soon be married with a child. The actress and her fiancé Martyn Lenoble are expecting, her rep confirms to People exclusively. Applegate, 38, and Lenoble, 41, dated for two years before becoming engaged on Valentine’s Day. No date has been set for the wedding. The Samantha Who? actress says her fiancé, a Dutch bass player, helped her recover after undergoing a double mastectomy,” People informs.

Speaking of the ordeal she had to overcome and how Martyn helped her do so, Applegate was also telling People in May 2010 that she probably couldn’t have done this on her own. Also then, the actress revealed she’d come up with a new rule of sorts for her life since winning the cancer battle: to never allow herself to wallow in self-pity anymore and to eliminate stress completely from her life, if possible. Of course, she too has days when both seem impossible but at least she’s trying.

“While Applegate, who under went a double mastectomy, admits she’s not immune to negativity, she tries to talk herself out of it. ‘I fall short. I get into self-pity and all of those things you do... but at the end of the day, this is the day that I'm living and I need to rejoice in it,’ she says. At the moment, Applegate is rejoicing in her role as the future wife of musician Martyn Lenoble, whom she called her ‘best friend.’ ‘This chapter of my life is bigger, better, more exciting. I’m looking forward to everything my life has to offer,’ she says. ‘I feel incredibly grateful’,” People was saying back in May, as we also reported.
