Christina Aguilera was supposed to embark on a 20-date national tour this July to promote her latest studio material, “Bionic.” Only minutes after the album leaked in its entirety, the singer announced the tour was canceled, citing promotion for her film “Burlesque” as the cause. In a new interview cited by The Sun she goes into further details of the decision.

Following very intense speculation that she only called off the tour because she was told that, even with it, she still stood no chance of making “Bionic” sell, the singer is taking a stand to rubbish such false allegations. As mentioned in the press release at the time, the tour was canceled because Christina realized she would not have time to it and, at the same time, fulfill her contractual obligations for “Burlesque.” At least, not the way she would have wanted to – so something had to give.

“I’m such a perfectionist. I’m not doing something unless I give my all. I haven’t had time to think about the tour, what with the film. The tour is postponed. But it’s definitely going to happen. I was going crazy trying to figure out what the set list was and it felt too rushed, too soon. There wasn’t enough time to prepare the kind of show I like to put on – which is my very best. I knew we wouldn’t have the time to do it so the biggest, better Bionic tour will be next year, when we do have time,” Christina says for the fans.

As for that so-called Lady Gaga diss that Christina reportedly made when she called her a “newcomer,” that was taken out of context. “It is nice to see someone actually take risks like Gaga. It can be hard to face criticism when you try new things in fashion and things. I fell victim to that many times but I just kept on going. I loved experimenting and there’s been many before me who definitely helped pave the way – especially Madonna and Cher,” the singer, once endearingly dubbed The Voice by the media, explains.

This is, as we also noted on a past occasion, the second time that Aguilera explains her Gaga “diss.” Last time she did so, she said she had nothing but respect for the “Poker Face” hitmaker, especially since she’d accomplished so many things in a relatively short while.
