Christina Aguilera is back! The diva, who has been taking some time out from all public appearances to start a family with fiancé Matthew Rutlet, and who gave birth to their first child (her second) 5 months ago, is returning to The Voice with the new season.

However, that’s not where the good news stops: Aguilera is also working on a new album, with speculation online saying it might drop later this year. She doesn’t confirm or deny this, or as much as offer an estimated release date, but she does tease the kind of sound fans should expect from it.

Pharrell Williams will be involved

Christina did a rare interview with Extra’s Renee Bargh, her first in months. Fans know that she went off the radar even before she became pregnant, maintaining contact with them only through the occasional Twitter and Instagram (photo) updates.

She hasn’t been idle, though, as she is happy to announce in the interview: she’s been working with Pharrell Williams, who has been counseling her on the sound of her next album. He is also featured on one of the songs on it, but the diva promises more duets to come.

“It's genuine and it's heartfelt and I'm very excited to pour my heart out into this record fully, I’ve been gathering and writing and coming up with these amazing ideas for different parts of how I was feeling the past year, so I’m really excited to vocalize all of it and make it all come together,” Christina also says.

The only bad thing about this is that she doesn’t offer even an estimated release date. However, considering she started recording while still pregnant, we may assume progress on the material is advanced, allowing for a late 2015 release.

Baby Summer Rain is perfectly adorable, by the way

Because she can’t talk about anything concrete as regards the new album, so as to avoid major spoilers, the interview focuses mostly on Christina’s newest bundle of joy, her and Matt’s daughter Summer Rain.

As she puts it, Summer Rain is perfectly adorable and just plain perfect: she’s a “chill” baby who doesn’t give too much trouble to her already exhausted parents, and she and older brother Max, Christina’s son from her marriage to music exec Jordan Bratman, get along wonderfully.

In fact, if there’s anything that surprises Christina about this second experience with motherhood, is how mature Max seems to be given his young age: he’s acting like a grandmother, the proud mother gushes.
