When Christina Aguilera took to the field to perform the US National Anthem at the Super Bowl XLV, few expected her to mess up the words. She didn’t expect it either, which is why she’s now “terrified” of the upcoming Grammys performance.

On Sunday, at the Grammys 2011, Christina is scheduled to perform and, while she’s never had a problem with performing live, she’s feeling under a lot of pressure right now.

PopEater cites sources close to the singer as saying that she’s “terrified” of messing up again – which is why she’s taken extra measures to make sure everything goes smoothly, like getting a prompter.

“This is a huge night for Christina so she’s leaving nothing to chance. All the lyrics to her number will be in a TelePrompter at the event so it will be almost impossible for her to mess up again,” says the insider.

Christina will take the stage to perform one of Aretha Franklin’s classic songs (it’s not known yet which) and, while there’s no doubt her voice is as great as ever, she wants to make sure she doesn’t go through the same embarrassment like with the Super Bowl.

For all it’s worth, her friends and industry people are right there beside her, as her fans must surely be as well.

“You would be a fool to count Christina out. She has been down before and always found her way back,” a friend of the singer’s says for PopEater.

“Sure, she’s going through a lot and yes she is terrified, but mark my words, on Sunday when she opens the Grammys, no one will be talking about the Super Bowl anymore. This girl is in to win it,” the friend explains.

Ronn D. Torossian, president & CEO of 5W Public Relations, agrees: in a few years’ time, no one will remember that Christina got the lyrics to the National Anthem a bit mixed up, because they will be too busy talking about what a great artist she is.
