14 DAY TRIAL // Expect more of this kind of news after Valentine’s Day: it looks like pop diva Christina Aguilera got the best present ever from her loved one, former production assistant Matt Rutler, because she’s now rocking a ginormous engagement rock on her left hand.
Christina and Matt met in 2010 and started dating almost immediately; rumor has it that she wasn’t even separated from her previous husband, music producer Jordan Bratman, when they became romantically involved, but her marriage was definitely over.
More than 3 years later, Christina and Matt are still very much in love with each other, if her surprise announcement is any indication.
“He asked and I said…,” the diva posted on Twitter, with a photo that shows her and Matt’s hands united over a breathtaking view of the ocean. You can’t possibly miss the huge diamond on her engagement finger, even if the quality of the photo isn’t ideal.
As noted above, the two have been together for over 3 years, even if many assumed they would never last, because Rutler was said to be just Christina’s rebound relationship after her failed marriage to Bratman.
Regular tabloid reports also said that Matt was somewhat shady as well, which, in turn, led to speculation that he was using her for her money and the fame she was already enjoying. When they were both arrested for DUI and public intoxication, the tabloids said that he was actually fueling her alcohol addiction, which no “good” boyfriend would do.
However, in recent months, Christina has toned down the partying, which means that such reports have stopped making the rounds. The fact that she’s also lost the weight she gained right after the divorce (said to be caused by “boozing”) is now also regarded as a sign that her romance with Rutler had gotten serious.
