14 DAY TRIAL // The other day, Christina Aguilera and her 3-year-old son Max were photographed at LAX, with the child sporting a huge bruise under both his eyes. One website claimed Christina was responsible for the bruising – and it’s now being sued by the star.
Media Take Out uploaded the photos of Christina and Max at the airport, and ran them with the headline “CHILD ABUSE???? CHRISTINA AGUILERA’S SON IS PHOTO’D WITH A BLACK EYE!!!,” thus saying out loud that Aguilera was guilty of child abuse.
It also claimed that, when she saw photographers, she tried to hide her son from the cameras and, implicitly, the bruises, with a blanket.
TMZ got a hold of the cease and desist Christina’s lawyers sent to MTO, which has, since then, changed the headline to leave out the child abuse part.
“Our office represents Christina Aguilera and we have reviewed your post where you implied that our client may have been guilty of child abuse because her son had bruises under his eyes,” the letter reads.
“We understand the cult of personality that exists but there are limits that any decent person should respect. Christina is a wonderful mother and was not present in the park when Max fell and hurt himself,” the document further says.
Apparently, Max was out in the park with a nanny, chasing squirrels, when he tripped on a rock, fell and hit his head. He was immediately taken to a doctor, who told him there was nothing broken, just a bruise.
“To imply that she had something to do with this accident, without any investigation on your part whatsoever, is reckless and unconscionable,” the letter says.
However, there will be consequences, even if MTO changed the headline and the post since receiving the letter. TMZ says Christina is dead serious about suing for the child abuse claims made against her.
Her lawyers’ letter seems to imply the same.
“We reserve all our client’s legal and equitable remedies for this reputable disparagement of our client’s character. As set forth above, HAVE YOU NO SHAME!!!!!!!!!!,” it reads.
