Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are out of The Voice, season 4, as a statement from NBC released just hours ago confirms. Christina had already hinted at the move before, saying she would like more time to focus on her own music.

She would be taking a break from the NBC hit music show to promote her upcoming album, “Lotus,” which comes out this November and will hopefully manage to do in terms of sales what the previous one, “Bionic,” failed to do.

“Being a coach on The Voice is a wonderful experience and the relationship amongst us all is like an extended family. As I have expressed since day one of the show, that I am a singer and performer first and I am so excited to get back to that love,” Christina says, as cited by the Daily Mail.

For the time being, these two things she loves doing so much can’t co-exist.

However, Christina doesn’t rule out coming back to The Voice for season 5.

Until then, her and Cee Lo Green’s spots will be filled by Shakira and Usher.

“Since this year NBC and The Voice have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take Season 4 off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for,” Christina says.

“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, Cee Lo, Adam and Blake,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt adds.

“The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return,” Greenblatt further says.
