Christina Aguilera Announces Departure from The Voice

Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice premiered to huge ratings but that’s not enough to keep Christina Aguilera on as judge / mentor. Her focus is on her music and, for that to be perfect, she needs to take a step back from the show.

With these words, Christina is announcing her departure from The Voice next season. The quote comes from Billboard magazine via TGJ, but the Billboard link doesn’t seem to be working right now.

“[The Voice] kept me away from my heart, which is creating my own music. It’s been a joy to be a part of other people’s journey, to be able to inspire and be a part of new singers coming up in this business … but I was starting to get really worried and concerned that I wouldn’t have the time to go and be an artist again,” Christina says.

“I’ll probably be back. I just need to do my thing for a minute then I can come back and be that much better of a coach. I just need a second to get back to me,” the singer adds.
