For the past few days, Christina Aguilera has been teasing fans. After some time off the music stage to spend time with her family, over the weekend, the singer began to unveil the first signs that she was about to make her comeback. This culminated with the recent unveiling of the cover art for her first single and, now, for her album, together with details on “Bionic.”

We were also telling you the other day that Aguilera was cooking something “big.” While fans still haven’t had a chance to listen anything new from her, at the very least they have a date for the much-hyped album: June 8, 2010. Not only that, but they also have the cover art for it, which shows Christina like some sort of robot, along with some very interesting details on the collaborators she chose for her upcoming material.

“Aguilera’s been hard at work in the studio for the past year and is pleased to announce the release of her highly anticipated 4th studio album Bionic (RCA Records) on June 8th, 2010. The first single from Bionic is the fiercely energetic anthem ‘Not Myself Tonight,’ produced by Polow Da Don. The song will premiere on ChristinaAguilera.com at 6pm EDT on 3/30, impacts radio on 4/5 and will be available on iTunes on 4/13,” the press release posted on the singer’s official website reads.

The album will include tracks written by Christina and collaborators like Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron. The name of another track is revealed, a ballad called “Lift Me Up” that Aguilera wrote with Linda Perry. Moreover, the release also sheds some light on the name of the album, “Bionic,” which stands for Aguilera’s ability to use her voice in ways her fans haven’t heard of yet. Judging by all this, the album will mark a total departure from the sound of her previous album, which is something Christina too points out in the same statement.

“Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience. The artists I chose to work with added so many unique sonic layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic. I was able to explore and create a fresh, [hot] feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective. I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don’t think anyone will expect,” the singer says.

Not Myself Tonight,” her first single off “Bionic,” debuts in four days. Keep an eye on this space for more details on this.
