Christian Slater and TV producer Ryan Haddon tied the knot during a splashing wedding ceremony on Valentine's Day 2002 but the romance would be more short-lived than any one would have suspected. Problems between the two began to amount, reaching a climax in November 2002.
Police officers were summoned to a Las Vegas hotel to restrain Ryan, who had attacked her husband and hit him in the face with a wine glass, after a dispute that lasted a couple of hours. Slater was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors needed nine stitches to patch the gash and his wife into police custody.
No charges were filed but, two months later, the couple filed the papers for a legal separation. Now, three years later, the divorce is final. The actor went to the courthouse and asked to be granted an urgent divorce, citing as reason for his request some unpaid taxes that he preferred to pay as a single man and not as a married and separated one.
Court papers indicate that the divorce became final on November 21st, but no mention was made about the custody of the couple's two children. It is known that Christian asked for full custody of Eliana (5) and Jaden (7) but how the matter was solved was not disclosed to the public.
Slater's latest onscreen appearances included Emilio Estevez's 'Bobby' and 'My Name Is Earl' on the small screen. Currently, the actor is trying to revive a sagging career that has, until recently, spanned successfully over two decades.
