A Christian group trying to help the mostly non-Christian population in North Korea are dropping Bibles in the country. Seoul USA are sending off the books attached to balloons.

They have already sent off about 50,000 balloons so far, the Huffington Post reported. They are all homemade and they are about 40 feet (12 meter) tall.

Pastor Eric Foley is convinced that Christians are persecuted in the communist country. While there are no official estimates, he believes that there are at least 100,000 Christians in North Korea, a third of whom are locked in labor camps.

“They are overworked, starved, tortured, and killed," Foley says.

An infamous case in 2009 saw a woman be publicly executed for distributing the Bible. US missionary Kenneth Bae was also convicted and sent to a labor camp for 15 years after trying to give out Bibles.
