You’d probably never think to use Christian Bale and Steve Jobs in a spot-the-difference game, but apparently the producers and the director of Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming biopic think the two share a resemblance.

The Wrap has it on file from a solid source that director David Fincher is eyeing Oscar winner Christian Bale for the leading role in Sony’s movie profiling Steve Jobs, which is currently still in the early stages of development.   Written by Academy award-winning Aaron Sorkin (best known for penning “The Social Network”), the movie has no definitive launch date set and “Bale has not been approached to play Jobs yet,” while Fincher says he will only direct the film if the “machinist” pulls through.   The actor is currently “taking a brief break from the business to spend time with his family since wrapping the role of Moses in Ridley Scott's ‘Exodus’,” according to the report.   The film will be produced by Scott Rudin and Mark Gordon with Film 360's Guymon Casady and “consists of three long scenes regarding Apple's buzzed-about product launches, including the Mac, NeXT (after Jobs had left Apple) and the iPod,” according to people who are familiar with the project.   In 2013, a Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher launched to negative reviews and grossed only $35 million (€25.4 million) worldwide. Sorkin’s movie is expected to do a lot better because of the sheer number of undisputed talents working on it, hopefully Bale too.
