Christian Bale is a Method actor and that means, among other things, that he’s not breaking character during the production of a movie. Now shooting “Exodus” in Almeria, Spain, he’s turned down a star on the walk of fame precisely for this reason, La Vanguardia reports.

Bale pays Moses in the star-studded Ridley Scott-directed movie and, apparently, local authorities wanted to honor him and celebrate his presence there by giving him his very own star on the local walk of fame.

His publicist turned down the offer, telling them that he is “very focused on his work, that he gets very involved in his characters and that while he's filming he doesn't do things that are not in his work schedule,” according to a city council spokesperson.

Had they known anything about Bale, they would have thought twice before asking and then decided not to ask him at all. After all, he has a reputation for not doing press or any other type of events unless they’re in his contract to promote a movie, and for refusing gigs that come up while he’s still shooting for a movie.

The same goes for all those saying that Bale was too “uptight” to accept the honor. As I see it, it was his right to turn it down because he thought it would disrupt his work. If this had been some sort of charity event that he turned down, then he would have deserved some online bashing.
