Welcome to "Rumorville" again, as we cruise in the gaming universe, smelling the air for some fresh Final Fantasy: Crisis Core news (it's launched today) and also some interesting piece of info related to the Metal Gear Solid movie.
I, for one, didn't even know that such a movie was coming, but I'm glad to see yet another hit game turned into another successful media product. Turns out that Solid Snake will be played by Christian Bale, whom you might remember from "Reign of Fire" or "Batman Begins".

Keep in mind that this is only a rumor, but I'm not too enthusiastic about this choice, since I wasn't impressed by the actor's skills in the latest "Batman" movie. Well, at least he looks like Solid Snake, as you can see in the picture on the left, with that rough facial hair and tough attitude. We haven't received yet an official confirmation from Bale, nor has he stated his future plans in an interview, so we're just speculating on some info posted on PS3Forums.

My only fear is that this motion picture will turn into a standard action movie, like some sort of "Rambo meets James Bond"... Well, Snake may have a bandana, but he's ten times the man that Rambo is and even more of a secret agent than Bond. Since Solid was always surrounded by beautiful women and he was the playboy agent type, I wonder what the director's choice will be when it comes to the movie's female characters.

If I were to choose one of the games of the series to turn it into a movie, it would definitely be Metal Gear Solid, the very first PSX title, that conquered the world with its storyline and the superb feeling. Let's hope that MGS, the movie, will be more of a Kojima material and less of a Hollywood product.

I honestly couldnt think of anyone who can play snake. In my personal opinion i belive that it should be CGI. and ive heard that the story line is going to be completly different from the game..this just will not fly for me and many other fans. so to sum it up, the movie should be in CGI and should be based 100% on the story line. which means that their would be more than one movie being made. which would rock.

I agree. A part of me would love to see an MGS film, but I think that it can't be done in the spirit of the games. Sure they could do the Hollywood version, but MGS is more of an underground game sensation. If you can't handle the long cutscenes, than you can't enjoy the games because the story, I think is the primary reason people love the series. After playing almost all of the main games, and in my mind, the cinamtics make the film unneeded. I think we've already gotten the film through the game, with the exceptions of the gameplay between them. I think that the story is far too complex for most film makers to adapt it properly or even have the patience to understand it. Personally, I don't need the film or want it. I surely don't want Bale playing Snake. I think he's a decent actor, but Snakes voice is so important to the character, and we've heard his overly dramitic Batman voice, and I don't want that for Snake. I think that Snake would be faily easy to translate to an actor, but I think that He's been built up through the games so well that he already seems as real as a real actor could do, especially in MGS4. I really, really don't want Bale as Snake at all. Snake is so complex, driven, and established that it would be so hard for me to look at the actor and believe it.

and what the * is with david hayder having no involvement.. i might just boycott this film beacuse of this fact. hollywood is trying to turn this into another action flick with their favorite stars and its prolly gonna turn out to suck. they need to make it CGI and david hayder needs to do the voice.. it just wont be right without hayder
