By his estimates, Chris Pratt dropped about 60 pounds (27.2 kg) in 6 months while training for the new superhero Marvel movie “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but he knows at least one person who actually prefers him with a bit more meat (as opposed to muscle) on his body: his wife Anna Faris.

With the movie scheduled to drop in theaters this August, so far a lot of the promo campaign for it has been focused on Pratt’s impressive physical transformation. Granted, his weight fluctuated before, but he was never in such a great shape as he is today.

The actor’s weight once ballooned to almost 300 pounds (136 kg), after signing on for a role that required him to be even chubbier than he was in real life. He then became ripped for “Zero Dark Thirty” but went back to gaining weight for his next projects.

When he signed with Marvel, he knew the number one condition to selling “Guardians of the Galaxy” was to get buff again, just like he knew that he would only have a few months to attain his goal. Since then, he’s learned a very important lesson: in showbiz, it does matter if you carry a few pounds on the extra or not, even for men.

“I think I was a little naive when I first started acting, maybe ten years ago, and didn’t quite realize the impact the way you look has on the people who are making casting decisions. I thought for a while I was going to find a career playing the fat friend, and that was totally fine – it keeps you from waiting tables,” Chris reveals in a new interview cited by the Belfast Telegraph.

“But doing Zero Dark Thirty opened my eyes to the idea that I could be taken more seriously as a leading man character and so I thought I’d try that. But who knows, maybe this will be the last movie I’ll be in shape for and then I’ll get fat again. My wife would appreciate it. She likes me fat,” Pratt adds.

With all the attention Chris has been getting from female fans since he unveiled his ridiculously handsome and toned body, one could almost be tempted to believe wife Anna is jealous.

Of course, by losing weight, Chris has noticed a difference in other areas than just his career: the quality of his life has improved considerably. Today, the actor eats healthy and steers clear of alcohol on most occasions, but he also invests a lot of time in working out: he’s at the gym every day for at least one hour.

“[It’s] a massive change in diet and physical activity,” he describes it.
