Celebrities dump buckets of water onto themselves to raise awareness on ALS

The Ice Bucket Challenge (#IceBucketChallenge) is still the biggest thing online right now, with more celebrities willingly dumping buckets of ice water onto themselves to raise awareness on ALS. Chris Pratt also accepted the challenge the other day – and he might have just won the competition for the best video ever.

The idea with the challenge is that, once you’re nominated, you must either dump ice water on you and nominate other 3 friends, or donate money to an organization dealing with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Most celebrities choose to douse themselves with water, and I seriously doubt that many of them know that the challenge is all about charity. Taylor Swift is one of the most notable exceptions, offering to donate money for any of her friends who accept the challenge with her.

Chris Pratt chooses to see the funny side of this online trend so, after receiving 2 challenges, he accepts it – and puts a whole new spin on it. His spin also involves a bottle of Blue Sky Vodka and Smirnoff Ice, but also several buckets thrown from the terrace by his wife Anna Farris and a friend.

You will find it embedded below. Chris nominated Gregory Smith, Nick Offerman, and Dave Bautista, who have 24 hours to respond.

Responding to criticism that this challenge is nothing but a fad that celebrities seem to love because they get more exposure in the press for it, Erin Fleming, associate director of the ALS Association, lets the numbers speak for themselves: the idea for the challenge might sound stupid, but the figures don’t lie.

The ALS Association has raised $13.3 million (€9.93 million) so far, compared to $1.7 million (€1.26 million) during the same time period last year, between July 29 and August 17.

Here’s Chris doing his part for charity.
