Although more or less against his will, Chris Pine of “Star Trek” fame is slowly turning into a huge star, with a fanbase that expands from day to day, and people who would be willing to do anything to get him to speak about his projects or personal life. Speaking of projects, the actor got to sit down with Parade magazine and have a small chat on “Star Trek” and what made the Kirk-Spock relationship so special.

As all fans who have seen the most recent movie must know, Kirk (Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) start off on a very wrong foot, with Spock accusing a very smart and disobedient Kirk of cheating on a test. Since the one is extremely reckless, while the other is calculated to the extreme, it becomes clear that both have to change in order to meet halfway and forge some sort of relationship – which is precisely what happens in the film, Pine explains.

“It’s a relationship between two men that spend a lot of time together in space. It’s sort of like Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany in ‘Master and Commander.’ It is very much a story about two men learning really to love one another, and in the end, they become fast friends. But, along the way they butt heads because they’re alpha males. They strongly believe in themselves.” Pine tells the mag about what makes this particular bromance (defined as a special, platonic bond between two male friends) so special.

As the “Trek” phenomenon is slowly sweeping over the world, the Chris Pine one is also doing some pretty serious damage, especially with female fans, movie-oriented publications point out. Nevertheless, being such a huge star was never something that Pine specifically sought or wanted, since his only dream has always been acting and not necessarily being a celebrity, the actor revealed in another recent interview.

“I’m definitely guilty of looking at the blogs, and I’m not a fan of the anonymity [of the Internet], how it allows people to just spew poisonous vitriol like vomit.” Pine was saying as to the Star Trek online community and how he was appalled by the things circulating in it about him. As for fame, Pine says working with Lindsay Lohan on “Just My Luck” and seeing what being a star meant, he realized that “she was making a lot of money and attracting a lot of attention from the paparazzi. It put in stark relief that I don’t want that kind of life.”
