14 DAY TRIAL // If you had money riding on which member of the former Paltrow-Martin marriage was going to be the first to be seen in public with a new partner, let's hope your money was on the Coldplay singer, because Chris has been spotted out on the town with a woman that is not Paltrow, despite reports that they are still friends.
The singer was seen hanging out in New York with British socialite and fashionista Alexa Chung, as reported by Heat Magazine. The big deal in the matter is the fact that Martin seems to be the first to break the silent pact he and Paltrow had to not be seen with other people in public, although it's unclear how long this was supposed to last.
Martin decided to throw caution to the wind and on Tuesday, May 13, he was seen at around midnight with Alexa, in a bar called Elsa, on the Lower East Side. A person present at the scene said that “When I arrived at about 9.15pm, they were tucked away in in dark corner of the back room of the bar.”
“He didn't care that he was being recognized. But Alexa seemed more reluctant to introduce herself. She didn't really want to talk,” the source described the scene. “Chris and Alexa seemed to know each other really well. They were both in a great mood, and even asked us to watch their bags while they went out for a cigarette,” the eyewitness recalled.
The first time these two were spotted together was last year, at the Glastonbury Festival, which is when the first rumors of them hooking up appeared. This latest sighting seems to confirm that things are not only getting serious, but Chris is willing to come out into the open and show the world that he has gotten over Gwyneth and her “conscious uncoupling.”
For people outside the UK who are not familiar with Alexa Chung, it should be mentioned that she is a TV presenter as well as a fashion editor who contributes to the British Vogue. She's done some modeling, which is why she's now linked with fashion and is often considered an inspiration for fashion designers who appreciate her distinctive personal style.
That same style seems to have seduced Chris Martin, who just weeks ago was still pinning over his failed marriage and hinted that his latest album “Ghost Stories,” which is supposed to drop next week, was very much based on his personal life.
