14 DAY TRIAL // If Gwyneth Paltrow has a birthday, it stands to reason that it is going to be a star-studded affair, but it also stands to reason that Chris Martin has to be there, because she's the kind of ex-wife who's cool with her former partner. Also, there are numerous rumors that she's still keeping him on a tight leash.
Entertainmentwise reports that over the weekend, the pretentious Gwyneth has held her birthday party and she's made up a list of important people who would attend. Among them, as always, Chris Martin. Also invited were Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie and Tobey Maguire, who showed up at her Brentwood home on Saturday night.
Martin came before all other guests and he didn't bring Jennifer along
Martin actually arrived alone several hours before the rest of the guests, sparking up rumors that he and Gwyneth had to enjoy some alone time. That or Gwyneth made Chris come early to help out with the preparations.
The big surprise was the fact that Beyonce, Gwyneth's new best friend, was absent from the party, especially since it was rumored that Paltrow was going to play a big role in her divorce. The other missing guest, though this was no surprise, was Martin's new girlfriend, actress Jennifer Lawrence.
Understandably, Martin did not think it was OK to bring his new girlfriend to the birthday party of his ex-wife, no matter how cool and close they still are. This lends some credence to the rumors that Paltrow can't stand Lawrence.
Sources swear there's no bad blood between Paltrow and Lawrence
Insiders suggest that this is not the case and that Paltrow actually likes Jennifer and pities her for the whole intimate leak scandal that has seen Jennifer exposed on the internet.
“Gwyneth sent Jennifer a message of sympathy and ever since then Gywn has been a shoulder to cry on for Jennifer. Gwyn's been there and done that, and knows how to deal with the pressures of fame,” one source said.
Of course, the fact that Martin went out and found himself a woman that's the exact opposite of his former wife couldn't have bothered Paltrow at all, those remain just rumors. Also, Jennifer is bound to love the fact that her man is still very much attached to his ex-wife, who still, by the way, draws up his schedule in terms of visiting hours for the kids and for her.
