Chris Brown has hit a dead end with his tour, as British authorities have barred him from entering the UK because of his criminal record and conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna at the beginning of last year. The singer himself confirmed the news to fans on his official page, at the same time promising he’d try to reschedule the dates,
AceShowbiz informs.
As fans must know, in February 2009, Brown and then-girlfriend Rihanna
got into a very violent fight that ended with him trying to throw her out of the moving car and brutally banging her head against the dashboard. Brown pled not guilty to charges but was still sentenced for assault to community service, probation and anger management classes. Though the incident is in the past for him, it would seem that the past refuses to stop haunting him.
“In response to the cancellation of Chris Brown’s European tour, promoter and people at his label announced that they are trying to work on ‘possible re-arranged dates.’ Thus, concergoers in the continent are advised to hold onto their tickets. The ‘With You’ hitmaker was forced to scrap a number of dates in Europe after he was denied entry to fly to the continent. ‘SORRY to all the fans in europe!!! My tour is cancelled,’ he apologetically wrote on Twitter. ‘I’m pretty sure ya’ll know. My entry was denied in your country. I love you. SORRY!!’” AceShowbiz writes of the cancelation.
Fans should not lose all hope just yet. “We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offense. Public safety is one of our primary concerns. Each application to enter the UK is considered on its individual merits,” Britain’s Home Office says. Sony Music confirmed the above, adding fans may still get to see their idol live on stage. “Due to issues surrounding his work visa, the Ireland and United Kingdom leg of Chris Brown’s Fan Appreciation Tour has been postponed. Chris looks forward to performing for his fans abroad in the near future and thanks them for their continued support,” the statement from Sony reads.
The worst part of all this is that, as per ongoing reports, fans too were equally eager to
see Chris in concert. Figures circulated in the media say that, for instance, his Manchester gig sold out in the first 20 minutes after tickets went on sale, which speaks volumes for just how much fans wanted to see Chris live, regardless of what authorities make of his criminal record.
