Putting aside his recent problems with fellow singer Drake, Chris Brown wants his fans to know that, with him, it's all about the music, all about the art. He aims to make Michael Jackson proud with that.

In a new interview – see video above – the star talks about his most memorable performance and how it influenced and changed his life.

He was still young and he got to perform Michael Jackson's “Thriller” with the King of Pop watching, in the audience (at the 2006 World Music Awards).

It was an experience Chris will never forget.

“My legacy is not to be Michael Jackson, but to just be me. I want to make him proud. I don’t want to make it an effort to copy because I hate clones, so I don’t want to be a clone,” Chris says.

Props to Chris for being so respectful and ambitious.
