Nothing can cramp your style more than a jail sentence right before you have to go on tour to promote your new album that was already delayed numerous times because you were busy spending time either in courts or in jail. Chris Brown learned that the hard way for himself.

TMZ reports that the singer was present today in court in regard to his DC assault case in which he was charged with a misdemeanor for punching a man in the face outside the W Hotel. Brown decided to play ball and accepted the plea deal, which meant that he was to plead guilty.

His decision was explained to the judge in the sincerest of forms, as Brown took the stand and explained that he just wanted this case to go away so that he can be free to go on tour. Naturally, this had a positive effect, since admitting the crime is always a good idea in court.

As a consequence, Brown was sentenced to time already served in jail, which meant that Brown was free to go home and also resolved the last of his legal matters.

What's interesting is that Brown only served 2 days in a DC jail, but he ended up doing 108 days in a Los Angeles County jail because his DC case constituted a violation of his probation that was started in connection with the Rihanna punching case.

The judge considered that Brown learned his lesson and allowed him to go home. Brown made a solid case in court, apologizing for his actions and pointing out that this case derailed his career for the past year.

For what it's worth, Brown was accompanied in the courtroom not only by his team of attorneys, but also by his on-again-off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran, with whom he was rumored to have reconciled last month after a brief breakup.

This should put to rest the rumors according to which Brown was seeking a reconciliation with former girlfriend Rihanna, and confirm the fact that Tran and Brown sorted their differences. A tweet from late last month from Chris indicated that he was then considering marrying Tran and giving her a baby, as a thank you for sticking by him all these years.

Tran met Brown when he came out of jail and threw him a big welcoming party, showing her support for the newly released rapper. She has yet to address the marriage and pregnancy rumors.
