In a move that must come as a shock to Rihanna fans and those who believe the industry should never forgive Chris Brown for what he did to her 3 years ago, confirmation has come that the two will be working together again.

Vibe magazine has it from a very reliable source that Chris Brown will be appearing on Rihanna's upcoming “Birthday Cake” remix: a collaboration that many assumed would never happen again.

As it must be common knowledge by now, Chris and Rihanna breakup was one of the most mediated of our times, especially since it happened on the heels of a very serious case of domestic violence.

After the Grammys 2009, Brown and Rihanna, who had been dating for quite some time, got into a very heated argument in their car, on their way home.

He attacked her and beat her to a pulp, according to police documents and photos available online.

Now, he's working with her again, having already recorded his bit on her remix.

“The shocking guest feature will come from none other than Chris Brown,” Vibe writes.

Rihanna and her team had already teased fans with promises that the guest star on the remix “will shock the world.”

“This comes as a shocker to both Rihanna fans and the rest of the breathing world. Nobody could have guessed these two would actually collaborate on another song together. Prior, to their publicized domestic violence incident, Chris worked with his ex-girlfriend of the 'Cinderella (Umbrella Remix)',” Vibe further reports.

“Breezy has recorded two verses for the remix. Chris reportedly raps on one and sings on the other. Earlier this week, producers Da Internz alerted MTV News about the forthcoming track,” the music-oriented publication further says.

If one is to believe reports online, this is not the first attempt on the part of the two exes to work together again.

Just months after the assault, as Rihanna was recuperating and was starting to go back into the studio, rumors had it that she was still open to the idea of a duet.

Some media outlets even claimed that said collaboration was recorded – it was never released, though, because of the fear of a public backlash.

If the above is accurate, it's probably safe to say that said fear has vanished and the two are ready to take on the entire world – together again, at least musically.
