Things are getting a bit murky for singer Chris Brown as the long arm of the law is almost catching up with him. The temperamental singer was inches away from seeing the inside of a prison cell, after the prosecution in the famous Rihanna beating case demanded he be jailed for violating parole.

However, the judge ruled in favor of the Brown and said that he should instead continue his stint in rehab where he's currently seeking treatment for his anger management issues.

Brown was present in court yesterday, February 3, at the Los Angeles Superior Court, where Judge James R. Bradlin told him to continue down his path as “it appears [he's] doing well in the program.”

The decision came, according to TMZ, after the judge was presented reports that the singer's behavior had taken a turn for the better “He appears to have a more serious and responsible demeanor and is responding well to dual diagnosis treatment program and changes in medication,” a statement from his probation officer said.

The prosecution didn't concur with the decision and demanded Brown be sent immediately to jail for violation of parole because of the Washington DC incident. The rapper had already been on parole for attacking singer Rihanna when he assaulted a man outside the W Hotel in Washington.

According to them, Brown's latest outburst showed that his temperament was indeed getting worse, “increasing in severity and intensity.” He is set to complete the program in rehab on February 19, after which he has another court hearing on February 20, for the Washington DC assault case.

So far, he's managed to dodge most of the bullets, but it remains to be seen if his defense can convince the judge to keep him out of jail from now on.

The next hearing for the case of the Rihanna beating is on February 28, which means that Chris is going to spend the better part of the month in and out of courts.
