Chow Yun-Fat returns to Hong Kong after 10 years. The Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star is set to work on a movie in his native town.
Chow Yun-fat will play the part of a con man who falls for one of his potential victims, played by Siqin Gaowa, in "The Aunt’s Postmodern Life", signed by Ann Hui ("Song of the Exile").
The "God of Gamblers" has missed working with Ann Hui,
director with a long track record in the local industry, and has therefore returned to his native town for her new movie.
"I agreed to this movie because I haven't worked with Ann in a long time. I admire her and Siqin Gaowa a lot. Plus the role I was offered in this movie is something new. I've never played a swindler before, so I want to try", Chow Yun-Fat declared to Apple Daily newspaper.
The "Bulletproof Monk" star has recently joined the "Pirates of the Carribean" team, as he has accepted the part of Captain Sao Feng in the third part of the movie.
One of the most representative figures in Hong Kong cinema, producer, director, actress and screenwriter Anna Hui was born in China in 1947, and moved to Hong Kong at the age of five.
Ann spent two years at London Film School, after she has graduated in English and Comparative Literature from Hong Kong University.
While in Hong Kong, she worked as an assistant to director King Hu before joining TVB to direct drama series and short documentaries.
In 1977, she produced and directed six films for the ICAC and in 1978, she made three episodes for the RTHK series, Below the Lion Rock. She made her debut feature file, The Secret, in 1979. (imdb.com)
