Chow Yun-Fat has officially joined the "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" team.
The "Bulletproof Monk" star, also famous for his part in "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", will play a major role in the third part of the Pirates movie. (moviehole.net)

Yun-fat will portray Captain Sao Feng, a notorious pirate in the second sequel to the 2003 Disney blockbuster, according to Variety.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 are both filming back to back.

The second part, tentatively titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" should be released on July 2006, while "Pirates 3" are looking for a summer 207 release.

The Chinese veteran star might also appear in director Zhang Yimou's untitled third martial-art film. The story is rumored to be set in Tang Dynasty, same as House of Flying Daggers, but will have more characters than the previous films.

Zhang Yimou has also thought of casting Gong Li, the actress who took the lead in his first seven films, for the role of Empress Wu Zetian, China's only female monarch, according to Monkeypeaches.
