If Sony hasn't convinced you so far that tablets can be used in the kitchen with its Xperia Tablet Z, glutton edition, maybe this new concoction will.

Siobhán Andrews, winner of Sharp’s paid internship in the UK, seems to believe that tablets could turn out to be the key missing ingredient from your kitchen. So, she has designed a prototype dubbed Sharp Chop-Syc. It's basically a slate wirelessly connected to the Internet you can chop your food on, among other things.

“It’s been a wonderful experience working alongside some of the greatest minds in product design and innovation. The team at Sharp Laboratories has provided amazing knowledge and guidance. I’m delighted to have developed a working prototype at Chop-Sync in my short time here,” said the designer.

To enable people to chop greens and what not, the designer has made the screen from though, scratch-resistant glass and has coated it with a 2-mm / 0.07-inch edge to prevent spillage and other kitchen disasters. Chop-Syc can also provide accurate information about the number of calories you plan to be gulping, portion size and weigh of the foods you place on top of it. It could help fervent cooks to shop online at their favorite grocery locations like Tesco.

The device is still in its testing phases, but who knows, it might end up on retail shelves soon.
