The development teams at Torn Banner and Spike TV announce that they are working on an expansion for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, called Deadliest Warrior, which will be based on the popular television series with the same name.

So far, the two companies are willing to offer information only on the Samurai and the Spartan, which will be shown to the public at the coming PAX Prime event starting on August 30.

Four other characters will be revealed at a later date and they will all be playable in the final version of Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior.

Steve Piggott, the president of Torn Banner Studios, states, “The Deadliest Warrior show asks one core question – if the greatest warriors from throughout history fought it out, who would win? Now we are bringing that decision to gamers as they get to vote for their faction with the swing of their sword, determining once and for all who is deadliest!”

Dan Yang, the general manager of 345 Games, adds, “This expansion pack allows us to inject the Deadliest Warrior conflict into an entirely new multi-player, multi-era world to create the only first-person slasher of its kind. We’re certain the resulting combat will be as intense as the warriors themselves.”

In addition to the new classes, players will also get access to new game modes and other extra content.

MixedTeam Deathmatch will allow gamers to create complex battle situations that include up to 64 players, while Faction Battles allows each team to use just one warrior type.

Warrior Duel focuses on one-on-one fights, while Free for All introduces an extra dimension to the melee.

Gamers can also create their own custom modes that satisfy their unique requirements.

Deadliest Warrior for Chivalry will also introduce new environments to play in and will expand the leaderboards and the stat tracking.

The expansion will be out before the end of the year via Steam.
