Romeo and Juliet isn’t one of the oldest love stories in history. This week’s post of China’s State Administration of Science depicts one that lasted throughout millennia.

The country Chang’e 5-T1 spacecraft has been doing a flyby of the moon and in the process snapped a bunch of beautiful photographs depicting the two stellar lovers that have forever co-existed, albeit never being able to touch each other: Earth and its natural satellite, the Moon.

The description of the images, indicated that the images were captured a few days ago by the spacecraft’s service module as it orbited Earth at a distance of about 336,000 miles from Earth and 572,000 miles from the Moon.

You might recall another iconic photographic of planet Earth which was dubbed Blue Marble. This shot was taken on December 7, 1972 by a crew on the Apollo 17 spacecraft, from a distance of 28,000 miles. Apollo 17 also shot the image while it was doing a flyby of the moon.

Anyway, of the two pictures, the second one is particularly interesting because it shows a side of the Moon that’s normally hidden from observers on Earth.

It certainly looks like the Moon is watching over the astral body it has been cosmically bound throughout eternity, our Blue planet.
