Windows XP will be retired on April 8, 2014, but that doesn’t mean that security software will stop working on the operating system as well.

According to a new report by Want China Times, Chinese security company Qihoo 360 has revealed that it would completely provide Windows XP protection through its anti-virus product until the operating system completely vanishes, which is very unlikely to happen in the next couple of years.

Windows XP has right now a 29 percent market share, but Microsoft hopes to cut it down to 13 percent by April. This goal is fairly impossible, especially since many users are actually disappointed with the latest offerings on the OS market, including Windows 8 and 8.1.

In the meantime, Windows XP continues to be powering 70 percent of computers in China, according to the same report, so Microsoft clearly needs to do something about it in this particular market.
