14 DAY TRIAL // A horrific photo from China shows a 46-year-old man locked up in a stone cage by his parents.
According to the Mirror, Dong Hai was put in there as a teenager when he displayed signs of mental illness.
The family lives in Longhai, southeast China's Fujian Province. Dong Watou and wife Xiao Hong keep their son caged in the garden, in a cave they built in 1983.
Before confining him to the stone cell, they took him to several doctors in the area and he could not be helped at the time. They gave up and decided to lock him up, fearing that he might hurt others.
He is fed and provided with water through a hole in the stone wall or a door equipped with metal bars.
