Ubuntu Kylin is a new addition to the Ubuntu family and aims to provide a more suitable distribution for the Chinese users.
Ubuntu Kylin 13.04 Beta 1 has joined the other releases today, along with Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu.
“We are committed to provide you with a delicate, thoughtful and fully customized Chinese user experience out-of-the-box. For instance, by providing a desktop user interface localized in Chinese and installing common software that Chinese users commonly use by default,” states the official
announcement.
Highlights of Ubuntu Kylin 13.04 Beta 1:
• A simpler and more convenient music search has been implemented to help you find the latest, hottest Chinese pop songs;
• The weather forecast information is offered in detail, providing effective references for your daily life and travel;
• Ease of use, the authority of the Chinese calendar, which contains the traditional lunar calendar and the Gregorian calendar, facilitate inquiries about holidays, in line with the Chinese using habit;
• The default input method using fcitx and supports cloud Pinyin input.
