Show that feminine side of yours...

China is the place where any gaming fantasy (or nightmare) can come true. One of those is getting banned from a famous MMORPG, just for being a male and using a female character. Shanda Entertainment, one of the top "players" in the Chinese gaming industry has recently mentioned that Aurora Technology, their subsidiary, has frozen the accounts of male gamers using females as their virtual characters.

However, it seems that the ban doesn't have an effect when it comes to the feminine public, since gaming girls can use male characters, without fearing a ban. Is this an act of discrimination or just a way to stop MMO fans from picking up virtual girls, just to find out that they've just hooked up with their friend or brother? The MMORPG affected by the decision is called "King of the World" and it turns out that you'll have to prove your gender via webcam, before getting a female character from now on.

This whole webcam issue seems exaggerated as it can be easily passed by those people who really want a female character. I really don't see where the problem lies, since MMORPGs usually allow you to interact with people pretending to be exactly what they're not. This spoils a bit of the fantastic aspect of the game, but it won't be difficult to convince a girl to pose as the real user of your female character's account. What if I'm a shy user who doesn't own a webcam and doesn't want to show off his/her face?

Imagine what would happen if Blizzard banned all the male users of those hot female Rogues... First, it would mean a great financial loss and second, we all know what men think... It goes something like: "I'll create a feminine character just to watch her fight and show her hot body, while evolving and kicking other players' behinds!".
