Doctors at a Chinese hospital have successfully removed a whistle from a man's body after it was stuck there for the past 15 years.

Liu Yougang swallowed a plastic whistle when he was 9 years old, and the little instrument got stuck in granulation tissue in his right lower lobe bronchus. As a result, Liu used to make whistle sounds while sleeping, had difficulty breathing and coughed continuously.

After a medical examination, doctors at West China Hospital in Chengdu, Sichuan province, have identified the foreign object in his body. The man, who is now 23 years old, has finally undergone surgery to have the object removed.

The operation has been a success and Liu can now breathe a sigh of relief, as he is able to speak and eat normally. He has already been discharged from the hospital.

“The whistle had been embedded in my body for many years and had been broken down gradually,” Liu said after the successful operation, according to Metro.

There were many similar cases of bizarre objects found in human bodies in the past. One of the weirdest is that of 30-year-old Li Fuyan, who has lived with a rusty 4-inch (10-cm) knife blade in his head for almost 4 years without even knowing. The doctors discovered the strange object in his head during a routine check and operated him immediately.
