Come June 25, thousands of Americans who are struggling with financial difficulties will get to enjoy a quiet lunch in Central Park, New York. What's more, word has it they won't even have to pay for the meal themselves.

On the contrary, Huffington Post tells us that the person who will be taking care of the bill for this group lunch is Chinese billionaire Chen Guangbio, who has made a name for himself as a recycling tycoon.

Information shared with the public says that Chen Guangbio is ready and willing to let as many as 1,000 people attend his lunch party. It is estimated that, all in all, his generosity will cost him $1 million (€0.73 million).

As if parting with $1 million to feed complete strangers were not enough to prove that this billionaire is by no means what some would call cheap, it need be said that the 1,000 people who will attend the lunch will not leave Central Park empty-handed.

Media reports say that, apart from paying for their meal, Chen Guangbio has promised to offer each and every one of them $300 (about €221). Apparently, the billionaire expects his 1,000 guests to use this money to sign up for some classes and get a job.

Talking to the press, the Chinese billionaire has explained that, altruism aside, his decision to invite a whopping 1,000 Americans to lunch in Central Park is meant to show folks in the United States that people like him are no strangers to generosity.

Besides, it looks like Chen Gaungbio hopes that the lunch he has planned for this coming June 25 will help convince other billionaires in his home country that being rich is not all that matters, and that with larger-than-life bank accounts comes social responsibility.

“I want to spread the message in the US that there are good philanthropists in China and not all are crazy spenders on luxury goods,” Chen Guangbiao has told the South China Morning Post in a recent interview.

“At the same time, there are many wealthy Chinese billionaires but most of them gained their wealth from market speculation and colluding with government officials while destroying the environment. I can't bear the sight of it,” the billionaire goes on to explain.

This is not the first time Chen Guangbiao makes headlines. Thus, it was in later September 2012 that this billionaire got loads of media attention following his decision to start selling canned fresh air to people in China.
