Seemingly, Barbies are better made in China than at Mattel's

The following came as a real surprise to all of us, but, other than that, it must really be a reason of pride for the Chinese manufacturer in question. Though this is probably very good for Chinese users, the rest of us can only enjoy the irony and the interesting development regarding this Barbie, since such a device is available only in China.

To clear things up a bit, this music phone is Mattel's Barbie B2 version called the Barbie P520, but without an official link to the original Barbie music phone designer. The manufacturers did not even bother to alter the name too much since they borrowed everything else from the worldwide-recognized toy company. Come to think of it, this could also be seen as a more honest approach, since the Chinese manufacturer is not trying to cover the truth up, or to deny it in any way.

After considering all this, we should also weigh in the fact that, in the end, after borrowing Mattel's design, above anything else, the manufacturer came up with a better handset than the original one, and that's probably the only thing worth applauding or debating.

Although many could argue that its lack of originality and authenticity will turn this device into a failure, Chinese customers are probably pleased with the development. In any case, the noteworthy features are the 1.3 Megapixel camera, the touchscreen, the media player (of course), the Bluetooth support and the dual SIM card slot. In addition, the device also features a card slot for cards probably up to 2GB, but also a stamp revealing it is a Barbie music phone, which is probably the worst thing the Chinese company could have thought of borrowing.

Since the price tag will also be $30 more affordable than on Mattel's device, it's highly likely it will become at least a very sought after piece of engineering, if not a highly successful music phone.
