Apparently not only the US has trouble with young teenagers that go berserk and take the killing frenzy from multiplayer games to the real life. But were the US government and other countries failed, China will succeed.
Because of the recent deaths in the Asia due to prolonged exposure to online gaming (without food, water and rest) the Chinese government has decided to put a stop to all this. So they've developed a system that would regulate the number of hours gamers spend online. They think the system will be operational in early 2006. I'm not sure how a software system will stop probably a few dozens of millions of Chinese "dudes" of wearing themselves down. And let's not forget that China is one of the most prolific countries in hacker exporting.
There will be a limit set to about three hours of playing after which the player will be forced to a five hour break or his game character will lose half of the gained abilities. Multiple companies have decided to join the beta test: Shanda, NetEase, The9, Optisp, Kingsoft, SINA, and Sohu. The games to be included in this beta test are: The Legend of Mir II, The World of Legend, Westward Journey Online, Fantasy Westward Journey Online, World of Warcraft, MU, JX Online, First Myth Online, The Legend of Mir 3G, Lineage II, and Blade Online.
Like that is going to happen...On the other hand, if there's someone that can enforce such a rule, then China is the one.
