The country's government announces plans to tackle air pollution

You know you should probably go get your lungs checked when your country's government announces that it is about to spend a whopping amount of money on improving air quality.

Business Green reports that the Chinese government has finally decided to take air pollution seriously, and implement green-oriented measures intended to improve air quality in the country's most affected areas.

Word has is that, over the next five years, China will spend some $277bn (€209bn) on eco-friendly programs.

No details concerning what these programs are all about have thus far been shared with the public.

However, it appears the country hopes that, by 2017 at the latest, it will have succeeded in lowering harmful emissions by 25% when compared to 2012 levels, the same source informs us.

News of these investments come shortly after the country was affected by a major air pollution crisis.
