China Mobile, the largest wireless carrier in the country, and the largest in the world when it comes to the number of subscribers, has recently unveiled some of the handsets that will come to the market under its own OS, called Ophone (an Android-based platform). Among the companies that will come to the market with devices running under the OS we can count Dell, Lenovo Mobile, LG, Motorola, Dopod, Hisense, and more.

The Ophone-based handsets are to be used on the company's 3G network, based on the Chinese TD-SCDMA standard. While some of the phones China Mobile unveiled are already known (such as the Dell Mini 3i or the Lenovo Mobile O1), others have just emerged, with the LG GW880 among them. Both a series of photos and some specs on the device have emerged into the wild, once again thanks to Sina.

The LG GW880 is a TD-SCDMA mobile phone that should feature support for GSM / EDGE networks, as well as for CMMB / MBBMS Mobile TV. The specification list of the device shows a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, along with 512MB of ROM and 256MB of RAM.

One of the most interesting features of the handset is the fact that is sports two cameras, a 5-megapixel one on the back, which comes with auto focus and flash, and a front facing one, which can be used for video calls. Other than that, there are no details on the device at the moment, so you might want to check on the photos below to make an idea on it.

For what it's worth, it seems that China Mobile will play big with its OS, as it will certainly try to attract users towards its 3G network. The competition on the Chinese 3G market might tighten up in the near future, as China Unicom, another major carrier in the country, has just inked a deal for the launch of Apple's iPhone in the area, while China Telecom, the third operator, might launch the Palm Pre.
